The Challenge
 Wedding Searches, a specialized search engine dedicated to offering Internet users quality wedding resources, was looking for a search engine solution. After researching "off the shelf" search engine/portal solutions, they came to Alternative Systems looking for a custom solution to fit their needs. Among those needs were an advice column - with the means to respond to and track visitor questions; a way to enter new sites into the directory; a way for the directory to detect out of date links; and a way of automating directory advertising. Most importantly they needed a way to separate themselves from competitive portals/search engines AND stay within their limited budget.
The Alternative Systems Solution
Alternative Systems first built the directory engine so that Wedding Searches staff could begin entering sites. Once the engine and peripherals were built Alternative Systems carefully analyzed competitive sites. These sites consistently offered broken links, non-wedding related content and amateur wedding sites that were difficult to read and were often not relevant to the search category. To set Wedding Searches apart we developed a systematic rating system that allows Wedding Searches' staff to rate each site in the directory based on standardized site qualities. This special feature gives visitors more information about the sites they are going to visit and makes Wedding Searches.Com one of the top wedding related portals on the web today.
